A variety of active, vibrant student groups support and enable student exploration of Space and beyond. Check out the student groups below.
Black Students in Aero (BSA)
BSA at the University of Michigan is a student organization committed to increasing the visibility of Black people in the aerospace and aviation industry. At BSA, we aim to create an academic and social community amongst those already pursuing a space-related education at UM, as well as to foster participation in the industry for interested outsiders.
CLASP Graduate Undergraduate Student Organization (GUStO)
GUStO provides opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students in the Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering department (CLASP) to become more actively involved in their academic community while attending the University of Michigan.
Michigan Aeronautical Science Association (MASA)
MASA is the student-run rocketry team at the University of Michigan. We take a multidisciplinary approach to engineering, getting students from across the college together to design, build, and launch pioneering liquid-fueled rockets, all part of the effort to take Michigan to space!
Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS)
SEDS is a worldwide student run organization whose mission is to enable progress in space exploration and development through student empowerment. SEDS project teams include BLUE, BLISS, and CLAWS.
Student Space Systems Fabrication Laboratory (S3FL)
S3FL provides students with practical space systems design and fabrication experience not readily available through the standard academic curriculum.
Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics (WAA)
WAA was founded in 2016, and is dedicated to fostering a sense of community where everyone interested in Aerospace can join, improving diversity within the department of aerospace engineering, and helping members build both personal and professional connections in the industry.
